Meet our Managing Attorney
Jamel Oeser-Sweat, Esq.
Jamel Oeser-Sweat is an attorney admitted to practice in the Courts of the States of New York and New Jersey, in the Federal Courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, as well as the District of Vermont. He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
He has handled hundreds of criminal cases, ranging from the defense of white-collar allegations, driving while intoxicated, domestic violence and has successfully defended clients in connection with murder allegations. He is an expert at handling high stakes and high profile matters, often without fanfare or any indication that he was involved.

Do you accept walk-in clients? Expand
We do not accept unsolicited walk-in clients. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. We are a law firm, not a retail store, though we understand that many other firms operate that way. Unfortunately, we are very busy and require an appointment. We can not properly service our clients if we allow strangers who have not retained us to stop us from doing the work we have been hired to do. All meetings with are firm are by appointment only.
Often we get feedback from people who are not our clients and who can not get an appointment with us or speak to an attorney. Unfortunately, we can only take a certain amount of cases and handle them properly. We also deal with emergencies. As a result, we can not help everyone.
Another common scenario is we hear from a potential client and then they engage in “shopping around” and come back to us only to find we are no longer able to accept the case they have. To be clear, just as you don’t have any obligation to hire us, we don’t have any obligation to accept any potential client and we are not retained until there is a signed and funded retainer agreement between the parties.
